The City Square in Melbourne became a focus for protest during the late 1960s and into the 70s and ASIO was always there - across the road, filming. This Demonstration by the Vietnam Information Service, many of whose members were also members of the Monash Labour Club, was aimed at taking the argument against our involvement in the Vietnam War to the streets in a rational and informed manner. The public were invited to discuss the situation with people wearing the large circular badges. Rather than confrontation these people attempted to sway opinion with logic.
